The 15th Annual Meeting of the Lupus Academy will be held as a hybrid meeting with the in person meeting taking place in Bratislava, Slovakia from 3-5th September 2026

Accommodation
We have secured bedrooms for meeting participants at an attractive group rate of 141 EUR per night, including breakfast, VAT. Double occupancy is 161 EUR per night including breakfast for two persons and VAT. City taxes are 3 EUR pppn and need to be paid onsite. Take note that the group rates we have secured can ONLY be booked with the registration. These rates are not available online.
Cancellation of booked bedrooms is free of charge until 15th 2026. After this date, if we are able to resell your bedroom to another participant, you will get the full costs refunded. Name changes for bedrooms are always free of charge.

The meeting materials will be distributed onsite. After the meeting, you will receive a notification when the plenary presentations and meeting highlights report are available in our library.

Participants from low and low-middle income countries, per Worldbank, can register at a reduced physician onsite registration rate; the discount is 75 EUR. For upper-middle income countries, the discount is 50 EUR. A proof of residency in the country is required and can be sent by email (secretariat@lupus-academy.org). You will then receive a unique code to register with the discount. In person registration fees include:

Registration policies relating to Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian nationals
The Lupus Academy offers complementary registrations for the onsite meeting in Slovakia as well as virtual attendance (both include access to the catch up sessions after the meeting) to Ukrainian medical professionals and students. The Lupus Academy has decided to follow the same policies as medical congresses namely that delegates and companies based in the Russian Federation and Belarus cannot attend the Lupus Academy meeting in Slovakia.
Fligts
Bratislava has a small airport only (www.bts.aero/en/), which is a 10 minutes drive from the meeting hotel. It is serviced mostly by low cost carriers of which RyanAir has by far most routes increasing its routes in 2026 to 33 destinations. Other attendees are recommended to fly into Vienna airport, which is around a 45-60 minutes drive from Bratislava, depending on traffic. We recommend using a Slovakian service since these are more cost effective. More information below.

Coming by car:
The hotel has own parking places and the rate is €25.00 per day.
Taking a taxi from the airport:
A taxi to or from Bratislava airport will cost around €40.00 for a pre-booked private service and around 25 EUR for a regular taxi.
A taxi from Vienna airport is offered by most transportation companies at a fixed price if you pre-book. Generally Slovakian private transfer companies are more cost effective than Austrian taxis. Reliable private taxi services between Bratislava and Vienna Airport (VIE) typically cost around €75 for up to 4 passengers. These services offer door-to-door, comfortable, and punctual transport, usually taking up to an hour. It is recommended to book in advance.

- Privatehire.sk: Offers fixed rates for transfers, often with Mercedes Benz vehicles.
Spouses and other guests
According to Lupus Academy regulations, guests will not be able to attend any meeting related functions, including program sponsored meals or coffee breaks.

Electricity
Electrical sockets in Slovakia are one of the two European standard electrical socket types.
- Socket Type: Type E (two-round pins with a hole for the socket’s male earthing pin).
- Compatibility: Type C plugs (standard Europlug) will also fit in Type E sockets.
- Voltage: 230 V, 50 Hz.
Currency
Slovakia has the EURO as currency and ATM’s are widely available.
Weather
Early September in Bratislava brings mild, pleasant, and often sunny weather, making it an ideal time to visit. Daily temperatures typically range from 12∘C (54∘F) to 22∘C (72∘F). While the days are warm and comfortable, evenings can be cooler, and there is a moderate chance of rain.
