The 13^th Annual Meeting of the Lupus Academy will be held as a hybrid meeting with the in person meeting taking place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands from 6-8^th September 2024

Accommodation
We have secured bedrooms for meeting participants at an attractive group rate of 147.75 EUR per night. This price is built up as follows: 139 EUR per night, single occupancy. This is including breakfast and 9% VAT. Tourist tax needs to be added (at 6.29%): 8.75 EUR. Double occupancy is 149 EUR per night including breakfast for two persons and VAT. Tourist tax at 9.38 EUR makes total costs 158.38 EUR per night. Take note that the group rates we have secured can ONLY be booked with the registration. These rates are not available online.

Booking a room at the hotel, also includes a daily free shuttle service every 40 minutes to and from Schiphol airport from 05:00 – 23:00 hours (5 AM – 11 PM). Outside normal hours a special price of 5 EUR per person applies to reserve the shuttle. Please also refer to ground transportation information on this page.

Cancellation is free of charge until 31st July 2024. After this date, if we are able to resell your bedroom to another participant, you will get the full costs refunded. This arrangement applies until 15th August 2024 from which time no refunds for rooms are possible. Name changes for bedrooms are free of charge.

Meeting Materials
The meeting materials will be distributed onsite. After the meeting, you will receive a notification when the plenary presentations and meeting highlights report are available in our library.

Registration
Lupus Academy aims to provide global education at the lowest possible cost for participants.

Ground Transport
Hotel Van der Valk is about 15kms South of Schiphol airport and a taxi will cost around 25 EUR. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Booking a room at the hotel, also includes a daily free shuttle service every 40 minutes to and from Schiphol airport from 05:00 – 23:00 hours (5 AM – 11 PM). Outside normal hours a special price of 5 EUR (2023 price) per person applies to make use of the shuttle.

Coming by car:
The hotel parking rate is €2.50 per hour. Parking is free during if you have booked a room at the hotel.

Coming by public transport:
From Leiden Central Station, take busline 365 directly to Brugrestaurant A4. From there it is a 2 minutes walk. If you are staying at the hotel, we recommend taking the train to Schiphol from any direction and make use of the hotel shuttle service.

Saturday evening transportation:
This year, the Lupus Academy has included a return transfer to and from Amsterdam city center in the registration fee. After Saturday programme end, a coach transfer will be available for those participants that wish to go into the center for a meal or other activity. There will be two opportunities provided to return from there to the hotel. Exact timing and further details will be available about 2 weeks prior to the meeting.

Spouses and other guests
According to Lupus Academy regulations, guests will not be able to attend any meeting related functions, including program sponsored meals or coffee breaks.

Electrical sockets in Amsterdam are one of the two European standard electrical socket types. If your appliance’s plug does not match the shape of these sockets, you will need a travel plug adapter

Weather
September is still very pleasant in Amsterdam. Daytime high temperatures tend to be near 18 - 20 C (64 - 68 F) and low temperatures are normally around 13 C (55 F). Rain can be expected but September has an average of 5 days of rain.
